Richmond, VA — Colleagues in the HCA Healthcare Capital Division, headquartered in Richmond, Virginia, launched a new initiative, aimed to inspire others at the organization’s 18 hospitals throughout Virginia, Indiana, and New Hampshire, to volunteer in their communities. A total of 224 volunteers logged approximately 6,000 hours supporting 250 organizations in the ‘Every Hour Counts’ campaign, raising nearly $64,000 in grants.

Colleagues were encouraged to log their volunteer time, and for every 10 hours of service recorded, received a $200 Care Card, a virtual gift card, that was donated to any public charity or school of their choice. The top receiving organizations were Samaritan’s Purse International Relief, Girl Scouts of the Commonwealth of Virginia, and American Heart Association. The top hospital in terms of volunteering was Portsmouth Regional Hospital in New Hampshire, followed closely by LewisGale Medical Center in Salem, Virginia.

“Community service is a foundational component of HCA Healthcare’s core values and commitment to building healthier tomorrows,” said Christopher Finley, HCA Healthcare Capital Division’s associate vice president of community engagement. “Through volunteerism, every hour counts, and we want to do our part to help communities thrive and grow through financial support and service.”

Each colleague can earn up to $1,000 worth of Care Cards during the calendar year. Eligible volunteer hours are also accepted for colleagues who are actively serving as board members for nonprofit organizations.
