Blacksburg Hospital and Pediatrician Providing Free H1N1 Vaccines to Local Daycare Centers

Free H1N1 vaccines will be provided to children attending one of three Blacksburg daycare centers over the next week and a half. Approximately 400 doses will be available which are being provided and administered by David Berry, D.O., Ph.D., of Lewis-Gale Physicians � Blacksburg Pediatrics, and staff members from Montgomery Regional Hospital.

Amy Woods, Director of Surgical Services at Montgomery Regional Hospital, has been honored with the 2009 Magnet Excellence in Nursing Leadership award. This award, sponsored by the Virginia Magnet Consortium in partnership with the Virginia Nurses Association, is awarded to only one nurse in the entire Commonwealth of Virginia each year.

Carilion New River Valley Medical Center and HCA�s two New River Valley Hospitals –– Montgomery Regional and Pulaski Community –– are demonstrating a commitment to providing a clean and healthy environment by becoming tobacco–free campuses. Beginning January 1, 2010 patients, visitors and employees are being asked to refrain from using tobacco products when visiting these hospitals, as well as other facilities, including physician practices and outpatient centers, that are part of HCA's and Carilion's health systems in the New River Valley.
